Call Our Hotline

Call 217-228-4474 for our hotline manned by local law enforcement. Before you call, be sure to have as many details as possible. Give your information to the person answering the phone. They may need to ask questions or give instructions. The more information we have, the better chance an arrest will be made.

Fill out a confidential and encrypted form online. When you submit the form, you’ll see a unique ID number on your screen. Write this number down. You’ll need it to check the status of your tip or to pick up your reward.

Common Questions About Sharing Tips

See some common questions and answers below.

  • How do I remain anonymous?

Crime Stoppers does not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. We do not ask for your name, address, telephone number or other personal information. This protects your privacy and safety, as well as the integrity of the Crime Stoppers organization. When you call our hotline, you are assigned a code number, which is used on the information file. The referral sheet is forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agency for the follow-up investigation. You will also use this code to check on the status of the case or add information to the case. When you submit a tip on our app or our website, the forms are secure and encrypted to protect your identity.

  • How do I receive my reward?

When an arrest is made or a crime is solved because of your information, you are eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000. The Crime Stoppers Board of Directors meets the first Thursday of every month to discuss solved crimes from the previous month and determines the cash reward for each eligible tipster. On the first Friday of the month, you can call to check the status of your reward. If you are eligible, you will be given a password and directions to pick up your reward.
